February 15, 2026

This Transfiguration Sunday, we are joined by the Metropolitan Silver Band, both for the worship service, and then for a full concert at 1pm.

In celebration of Black History month, the Metropolitan Silver Band has brought along music drawn from the great legacy of gospel spirituals that have become traditional standards. The music helps to tell the story of caring as a community of faith. Many of these pieces originated in the music of the African-American enslaved peoples and served to tell the stories of the bible in ways that could, both then and now, hold multiple meanings for the listener ranging from spiritual comfort to more worldly concerns like instructions regarding the Underground Railroad's pathways to freedom.

Sermon: Shiny Happy People Rev. Bri-anne Swan
Anthem: Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child - trad., arr. William Gordon with the Metropolitan Silver Band
